Aparmita Silk Ring Cushion

A bowl needs a place to rest. The ring cushion is the most overlooked part of a singing bowl setup — and one of the most important. Placed under the bowl, it does two jobs at once: it holds the bowl stable while you play, and it lifts the metal off the hard surface beneath so the vibration rings free instead of being dampened by the table. Play a bowl directly on wood or stone and you will hear the difference immediately. The tone shortens, the sustain dies early, and the bowl slides as you work the rim. On a cushion, the same bowl opens up — full sustain, stable footing, and no scratches on either the bowl or your furniture. Our ring cushions are handmade in Nepal from silk brocade in traditional patterns. Each one is firm enough to support the weight of a heavy bowl, soft enough to let it resonate, and made to last years of daily practice. If your bowl arrived without a cushion, if you are replacing a worn one, or if you are setting up a dedicated practice space — this is the finishing piece. Handcrafted in Nepal. Since 2011.
