Manipuri Thali Singing Bowl

The Manipuri Thali is a wide, flat-based singing bowl — closer in form to a plate or thali dish than a traditional rounded bowl. That form is the point. The flat base produces a different quality of vibration than a curved one: more spread, more even, with a cleaner fundamental note and fewer competing overtones. In meditation practice, this simplicity is valuable — the sound is easier to follow, easier to rest inside. In Nepali ritual tradition, the Thali form has been used for both food and ceremony. In sound practice, it has found a second life as an instrument prized for its directness. Handcrafted in Nepal.
